In our youth and beauty obsessed culture we have told women that they need to be young looking and beautiful to be of value. The beauty industry is a billion dollar business and it comes with a lot of dirty little secrets. I have fallen for the lies myself on many occasions and as a former model, I am harder than anyone at accepting my own lines and wrinkles. BUT what does our obsession cost our pocket books, our health, our planet and our self awareness of our own natural God given value?
The human face is much like a book- it tells a story. I for one am determined to to be as open and honest as I can about my life. If I feel the need to camouflage my face (to cover it up) that too tells its own story- that I am hiding something I haven’t yet accepted about myself. Our skin covers our body and it reacts to our emotions. Our skin reflects our internal habits of sleep, nutrition, exercise and stress.
It is a well known fact that those who meditate have a far better aging experience. I, for one, have never been able to consistently meditate. I was raised in a family of sunbathers and at the age of 44, I developed a malignant melanoma. By the grace of God and alternative medicine, I am still here. The lessons I learned about skin protection and skin nourishing has been a beautiful gift. In a later Blog, I will share further my journey and how the skin really works. For today I want to share the industry that has been created and accepted by us the consumer and the damage it has done and is doing to a very living and beautiful planet and the creatures that live beside us.
I am a sensitive spirit, so I will never try to hurt you with images of animals being tortured by the beauty industry, but believe me they are. Innocent, gentle bunny rabbits and dogs are locked in cages in labs all over the world. Animals are being held in inhumane conditions and slaughtered and tortured for our beauty. It has crushed me for a long time to know this and not have any way of avoiding the products that are a result of this. Thankfully, there is now a new revolution of skin and beauty companies that NEVER test on animals. It’s easy to find out who those are. On products that do NOT test on animals, there is a bunny. Or on their website, they will state they do not test on animals. You can always call the company to find out. There is also a new wave in the organic beauty industry of NO Chemicals. Our skin absorbs and breathes and detoxify’s the body. It’s one of the reasons burn victims die.
