Kids are wonderful, sensitive barometers of the times we live in. Modern day habits, such as cell phone and computer use, EMF exposures, chemicals found in our cleaning products, our foods, our environments all Fire up” a child’s neurological systems. In the middle of all that stress, sleep is affected. So here are my suggestions for your little one.
Keep them off computers and cell phones at least an hour before bedtime. No television and no sugar at least two hours before bed. Spend some quiet time with them. After they have a bath with non toxic soaps and shampoo’s, snuggle in cotton pajama’s and read a sweet book, talk about their day, rub their feet with an essential oil and a carrier oil. (My favorite is Peace and Calming or Lavender) Remove electronics from the room, diffuse SleepyIze or Stressaway.
Say a prayer together or close their eyes and have them breathe slowly in for a count of 4 and out for a count of 4. You can also do alternate nostril breathing, close one side of the nostril and inhale, close that side and open the other side and exhale. Repeat. Finally, remember that routine signals the body to relax. Try to keep the same nightly time with your kids. You just might find that everyone (Including you) will “Sleep like a baby!”
