As many of you know after a certain age our bodies stop producing hormones that have sustained our beauty and our ability to conceive children. It is a rather harsh awakening to recognize the incredible impact that hormones have had in keeping us vital! In today’s challenge I will share a bit about each hormone and look at bio-identical hormone replacement. Many natural things can be used prior to hormone replacement. Amino acids can stabilize the blood sugar and lower stress hormones Try L Theanine. Substitute healthy fats like coconut, flax oil, organic butter, olive oil and avoid processed foods like chips, carbs like baked goods(Sorry that’s a rough one) breads and pasta. Eat a Paleo diet if possible, with organic meats, fish, sprouted seeds and nuts, vegetables a few small amounts of fruits. Avoid harmful chemicals in your personal products, your cleaning products, your garden products and your food sources. Our bodies are reacting to the chemicals in our environment and causing extreme shifts in our hormone balances. Make sleep a priority. Go to bed the same time every night as often as you can. Exercise is important for muscle tone and in the lowering of stress hormones (which are very aging) Balance with Adaptogens such as Holy Basil and Ashwagandha. Deep meditative breathing while using essential oils such as Clary Sage, Lavender, Fennel, Sandalwood and Thyme can assist the body in balancing the stress hormones of cortisol and adrenaline. Try adding some evening primrose oil, Vitamin D, pro-biotics, bone broth and a low carb diet. If you have tried all of this and still feel the need for hormone replacement find a Bio Identical Dr and a compound pharmacy to work with. Start at the lowest level and work up until you find that sweet spot. You will begin to have more energy and a clearer mind.
